Anxiety Ridding Machine 2020 (Front)Anxiety Ridding Machine show consists of 2 large aggregate sculptures made from ‘life saving’ found materials to make up the main dysfunctional A.R.M. Machine and Self-Reflection center. Also included in the show are 15 X two-sided, life size, freestanding, composite photographs “Anxiety Standees” that range in size from 2ft to 6ft in height spread through the gallery. An 8 ft wide “watching eye” photograph is mounted on one wall. A mint green liquid filled plastic bag is hung and placed strategically in front of the eye suggesting a tear rolling from the eye. A self help audio mix of Eckhart Tolle, Dr. Phil, Mr. Rodgers, Trump, Oprah and Pema Chodron offers perplexing advice. The A.R.M. has a few poorly made functions such as the white out dripper that attempts to rid of any personal failures writtenThe A.R.M. manual will fill in the rest of the promised functions of the machine to the anxious consumer. A lot of these functions are represented visually such as the Shelf of Self Help located inside the body of the machine. The A.R.M. manual lists the elaborate functions of the machine that promise better outcomes.
